yesterday was the best day ever. let me tell you what happened. well you see, some of my friends had apparently been going to houses of their friends and caroling, and emily and i were like what the heck when are you coming to our house? and last night at midnight we heard a banging on our window pane and ran outside and there they were. in santa hats for us singing we wish you a merry christmas with a whip my hair encore. it was the BEST!!!!! i even got it on video but i’ve been encouraged to not let it go viral so that we can tell the story and keep it for ourselves. i kinda still want it on here. but i won’t i won’t. it was awesome. then they all came inside and played apples to apples. it was the best day ever and i am still bubbling over with love for all you carolers. it was a good day. good. day.

i don’t know if i’ve gotten dumber but somehow my brain has a blockage when i try to think of blog topics. sometimes, well often, i feel like an a-hole for thinking anyone would want to read my blog. i believe the answer to that is, yes i am an a-hole. for a number of reasons. i think we just found our blog topic. see, sometimes i just start talking and i don’t have a plan for what i’m going to say (i.e every time i open my mouth) and i’ll improv. michael scott calls it an improversation. that’s exaclty what this is. it sucks when i realize mid sentence that the only way to rescue myself from a lack of forethought is to lie or to say it was just a dream. lucky for you this is a blog. so…thanks to my on the fly typing skills i would like to think of reasons i am an a-hole.

1. i leave my brights on all the time. my dim lights suck though.

2. i don’t talk to people on airplanes. i’m an incredibly personable and outgoing young lady, but just don’t talk to me on an airplane. i hate it.

3. i once stole lamb chops hair ties from a mall store.

4. I never replace the toilet paper roll. but it’s TOTALLY on accident. i just forget cuz we don’t have it in our bathroom and because i take great pride in my hand cleanliness i wash long enough to forget that we have no toilet paper. however, emily never seems to forget. now what does that say about her bathroom hygiene?

5. i seldom call people back. by the time i do they have either deleted my from their phones or kept my name in their phones so that they know not to answer it.

6. sometimes i like to do things spitefully. sometimes i like to scream MOM MOM MOM MOM MOM until she yells at me, pretty much exactly like that family guy commercial

7. i lose everything. only a jerk would do that.

8. i will never let a car in front of my when the lane is ending and they try to speed ahead. i will not. they suck worse than me.

9. i was a really crappy crocs employee.

i love being called any number of terms of endearment. my sister hates it, but i think it’s the best it makes me feel so special and like that person only calls me by that name. sometimes it’s a waitress, sometimes a friend, sometimes a telemarketer. this one lady today was at the target cash register. her name is shirley and i’ve only had her one other time and she did the same thing. when people talk like that to me i feel so flattered and special that my age like drops 5 years every time someone calls me a name cuz i can’t bear the sweetness of it. my convo with shirley went someting like this :
shirley: how are you today baby?
me: i’m doing well thanks how are you?
Shirley: i’m fine honey dumpling what did you get today sugar?
me (giggling and blushing like she’s my jr. high crush cuz i am totally loving it): well just some mac n cheese and these shoes
shirley: that’s great baby doll, now pumpkin do you need a bag sweetheart?
me (unable to look her in the eye now and grinning impishly): nahhhh
shirley: ok precious you have a blessed day gorgeous
me: nothing. i said nothing cuz all of her pet names reverted me to a five year old that’s too shy to even talk to grown ups.

and that’s what pet names do to me. i still haven’t totally recovered from shirley. i’m maybe like a fifteen year old now, so my next blog will be analyze all the boys i like with a list of physical pros and cons. omg i can’t WAIIIIIIITTTTT!!!

all my friends are going all over the world and i wish they wouldn’t. really just 2. but two of my faves and i wish they wouldn’t. i mean yes i am excited for them but i wish they wouldn’t. megan is going to italy, well past tense. but the day after she left, aka yesterday, i got this card in the mail with pictures and you know it was just about the sweetest thing. and now lauren, my little lucky charm is going to spain. it’s cool it’s cool, i just wish she wouldn’t go. today while i was falling asleep for my midafternoon nap that got interrupted multiple times by text messages and phone calls and stomach grumblings, none of which were mine, i was like hey what if our living room was in the bedroom and we had our beds out here in the living room and kitchen? like real.y though what if? and we had couches in our bedrooms and a table to eat in there and we just sat in bed in the living room. read on if your interested but if not, abandon ship cuz this blog is going no where. i’m doing it so i can get back into the habbit. habit. what do nuns where? yesterday liza and i played old school 64 and it was pretty sweet. but how about that living room bedroom swap idea? if you wanna revolution start a revolution, boyeeeeeee.

i mean i don’t really know what to say. i’ve had quite a few comments about how i hadn’t written on my blog for awhile. so i guess i’ll say sorry? so sorry! here’s the thing, i had no computer this summer and limited internet and so i didn’t blog. and still i have no computer. so i write this stealthily on someone else’s computer who’s name i will not reveal out of respect for her and to protect my integrity. jk jk. but listen, to those of you who don’t know, i spent the summer in ohio with a bunch of other students from ky and worked at this crazy place called kalahari. kalahari is a machine. but i’ll sum up my summer withy this: i fell more in love with jesus and more in love with people. so obvi it was the greatest thing.
now i’m back in ky but it’s the best cuz i have like a million more friends and they’re the best and if there’s one thing i know about myself it’s that i can never have enough friends. so all is right in the world, my blog has been updated, i have a big girl bed now and a lot of pairs of running shorts that i’ll do anything but run in and lost season 6 just came out on dvd. all is well in emily ann buikema’s world and thus in yours!

so sorry i have done nothing the last month, but really, it’s kinda nice to have a break from being so in love with myself that i write about it on the internet and expect people to read it. jk. but not entirely. like really. how narcissistic(sp?) do i have to be to do this? pretty narcissistic. whatever. i found this really awesome website called stumbleupon.com it’s the most cool thing of ever. i don’t really feel like explaining it. but it’s awesome. i’m home. and looky here. this is a list of ways to tell that i am, in fact, home (i.e colorado).

i drink chocolate milk from a sippy cup.
i lay on the floor rather than the couch–the floor is clean and smooth and i like to bother misty when i’m down there
my diet consists primarily of delicious grilled sandwiches. they are my specialty and i boast in them
i’m constantly talking about sports like i know everything because for the first time in 5 months i have sports center on my tv.
when i wake up in the morning i hit my head on the fan.
i also wake up with a strained neck cuz i spend the night craning my head to see the gigantic moon from my window.
my insomnia is not caused because i am an insomniac but because i’m sleeping next to the world’s pantingest dog.
going to the grocery store is like going to a family reunion with the whole town
there are ten million new stores and restaurants that will probably be out of business by the time i come home next
there are mountains. and they’re really lovely.
